Sabbath is made for man. Mark 2:27, 28.
There are many wrong concept about the Sabbath. Many Christian believed that there is no Ten Commandments anymore. According to them, Jesus removed the commandments at the cross. But he never said that.
Matthew 5:17-20 says,
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
In these verses, it is very clear that Jesus didn’t removed nor destroy the Ten Commandments. He fulfill it. Even when He was on Earth as a man, he keep it. We can see that is this verse. Luke 4:16, say “He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read.”
See, even our Lord Jesus Christ went to the church on the seventh day. There is no writings that shows He went on the first day to read in the church. He is even called as the Lord of the Sabbath. Matthew 12: 8 .
If we are followers of Jesus then we should do what he done. He asked us to follow His words and God’s commandment.
Sabbath is not for the Jews only. God created Sabbath for man.Matthew 2: 27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath. It is made for us, to rest ourselves from work and be one with our God.
Ecclesiastes 12: 13 Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. The duty is to keep His commandment not to keep the commandments and teaching or wrong interpretation of man.
Be wise!
