Date Poem for: November Fourteenth, 2015 :Come Aside

Sometimes when I write a poem, whatever type it may be, it’s inspired by something simple; as this one was by walking my dog this morning.  When we went out, no one seemed to be around, things were fairly quiet–there were not even any airplanes taking off or going over from the airport less than a quarter of a mile away.  All I could hear were birds chirping for a lot of the time on our walk.   I think that times like that are little blessings from God, when He knows my head needs clearing. 🙂  Like my pastor used to say when I was growing up and I said I wanted a break but I had work I needed to do: “Jesus came aside”.

November morning

On a walk with my dog; it’s

Very quiet

Except for the chirping of birds.

Mornings like this are wonderful

Blessings for the soul.

Every once in a while, one needs a

Reminder that God the

Father is looking

Out for

Us all of the time–giving us a moment of

Rest for our minds

That He knows we need–

Even in times of turmoil,

Even when things are crazy, God knows when we

Need to “come aside”

To refresh our minds–and get a bit of

Healing for our souls.

When our heads are spinning with our “to do” lists or events coming up or family things or whatever it may be, the Lord doesn’t begrudge us times to ” come aside ” by our selves, enjoy a little quiet, clear our minds of the turmoil, and focus on Him.  I am reminded of one of my favorite Bible verses that I memorized a long time ago:

“Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.” – First Peter Chapter Five, verse Seven
