Harold and I will be setting up at an antique show this weekend. This is a first for us and I am really excited about it. It will be such a different atmosphere. When we had our own shop everything was always the way we wanted it. It was easy to unpack things and find them a home. There was time to plan displays and create vignettes that were visually appealing and different and interesting. It’s hard to create a plan for this because we don’t really know what kind of space that we have.
We have a space at another antique shop right now, and we will be taking some of those items to the show. After the show we will concentrate on the visual appeal of our booth at this shop. It has kind of been on the back burner, but it is time to bring it to the fore front and start paying more attention to it, or it just is not going to be profitable at all. One of the main keys is change and adding new stuff and taking old stuff out and keeping it fresh and visually appealing. We have really been falling short in this area. At this point our booth is pretty much just sitting there looking like we just dropped our stuff off and forgot about it. There’s just not enough time in the day!
It’s all just a matter of getting organized, which is not our strongest virtue. We just keep letting other things get in the way. We really need to concentrate on our time management. Right now we are concentrating on getting ready for this show and after that’s over we will be able to move forward with the other things.
