You may have heard about SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, before. Just about any company looking to build up a presence online will have to pay attention to SEO. Through Search Engine Optimization, you make your website and the content found on your website attractive to search engines. Your aim is to increase your Search Engine Rankings, meaning you show up in search results, preferably at or near the top.
So how does all this work and how do you use SEO to increase your Search Engine Rankings, or SER? First, search engine companies, like Google, send out bots that crawl through the Internet. These bots analyze content, including what the content is about and how high the quality of the content is.
Part of the aim of SEO is to make a website and content attractive to these bots. This means building a site map that is easy for the bots to navigate, and also crafting high-quality content that’s rich in keywords. Keywords are the terms that people type into search engines. You might type in “SEO services for small businesses,” or “SEO services in Atlanta,” or “SEO services in Miami.”
If you own a brick-and-mortar business, geo-targeted keywords are especially important. Let’s take a look at the term “SEO in Miami,” for example. “Miami” in this case is a geo-targeted SEO term. When you type “SEO in Altanta” or any other city into a search engine, the engine will know that you’re looking for results in that geographical area. As such, it’ll prioritize results from that geographical area.
So, if you own a coffee shop, you might emphasize “coffee shop in Atlanta” or “coffee shop in Miami.” You’d also make sure that you’re listed on Google Maps and other geolocation services. Does all this sound complicated? If so, you can use a digital marketing company, like Zgraph SEO, to handle most of the grunt work.
