Great Gas Mileage
One of the most popular reasons for driving a diesel truck is the gas mileage. When comparing the same vehicle and engine, diesel engines get 20 to 30 percent more mileage than their gasoline counterparts. Longer Lasting
Since diesel engines are built to withstand the higher compression that the fuel requires, they tend to last a lot longer than gas-powered engines. It is not unusual for a diesel engine to last years, even decades longer than its counterpart.
More Low-End Torque
Diesel fuel provides 10 to 15 percent more low-end torque than gasoline. This additional torque contributes to overall gas mileage and savings. This also makes them much faster when going from standing to starting.
No Need for Tune-Ups
A diesel engine does not need regular tune-ups like a gasoline engine. They do not have sparkplugs or distributors. You will still need to perform engine maintenance like changing filters and oil changes. These services are not nearly as expensive as a full tune-up on a gasoline-powered vehicle.
Less Expensive in the Long-Term
Although diesel retails at a higher price per gallon than unleaded gasoline, over time, a diesel engine saves you money by burning with less waste.
